Massage Parlor of Death is a 2015 Canadian comedy horror film written, produced and directed by Richard Mogg (Bigfoot Ate My Boyfriend; Teenage Slumber Party Nightmare; Easter Bunny Bloodbath; et al) and starring Michelle Kaveet, Kaitlyn Yurkiw, and Kevin Paynter.
The film was shot in high definition over a weekend for just $50 and converted to VHS for a 1980s retro look.
Ruby (Michelle Kaveet), an unlicensed massage therapist, has a nasty habit of killing her clients in the most horrific ways. Using the blood of her victims, Ruby attempts to resurrect the deranged spirit of her long-dead lover…
Reviews:
“It’s got killer artwork, a couple of lovely girls, some cheesy comedy and one awesome synth based soundtrack. The acting drops away as things progress, the sound peaks and unfortunately the screenplay contains unnecessary material, making it rather forgettable. Saying that, the effects achieved with Kool Aid, ketchup and toilet paper were a lot of fun…” Adam the Movie God
“Far be it for me to beat-up on a movie that only took $50 to make, but I’m not the only reviewer this year that was bored to tears with Massage Parlor of Death. The “it was only $50” badge of honor could have been worn proudly if it had at least looked like some effort was put into it and not being made bad for the sake of being bad.” Chuck Conry, Zombies Don’t Run
“Massage Parlor of Death has a pink bath towel acting as a “sacred blanket,” […] ancient Haitian chants recited in English from a blank Moleskine journal, and a lot of tomato eating. For 60 minutes and maybe a pairing with a similar minimalist, oddball adventure, this movie is worth any SOV horror fan’s time.” N. Weaver, Cinema Stench
