Halloween: The Night HE Came Back is a 2016 American fan made slasher horror short film written and directed by Dave McRae from a story co-written with Leah Kellar. The latter also stars along with Bruce Dale and Jodi Krangle.
Director Dave McRae says:
“We wanted to create an old school film that displayed the same kind of mood, atmosphere, and tone as the original Halloween (1978) that would also act as a concept piece for the new incarnation of the Halloween franchise.
Instead of creating a fan film similar in tone as the later sequels, with groups of teenagers being killed off with lots of blood and gore, we decided to scale it back and create that claustrophobic, small town, independent, slow moving vibe of the original.
The original Halloween was very small, not just in budget, but in feel and tone. It wasn’t until Halloween II (when the cat was out of the bag) that things really began to open up. This is a very important detail we wanted to capitalize on. In other words, hell is breaking loose down the street, and nobody knows about it. We hope you enjoy our tribute. This one is for the fans!”
