Bride of Frankenstein is a 2019 American horror film to be directed by Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and 2; Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh; Sister, Sister) from a screenplay by David Koepp (Jurassic Park).

Rumours that Angelina Jolie may be playing The Bride are still just rumours, however it has been confirmed that Javier Bardem is going to be playing Frankenstein’s monster. The film is slated for release on February 14, 2019,

Bill Condon had been previously touted to direct Bride of Frankenstein, but the news is now official. The Gods and Monsters director commented:

“I’m very excited to bring a new Bride of Frankenstein to life on screen, particularly since James Whale’s original creation is still so potent. The Bride of Frankenstein remains the most iconic female monster in film history, and that’s a testament to Whale’s masterpiece, which endures as one of the greatest movies ever made.”

Universal delivered the news as part of a major announcement about their new ‘Dark Universe’, of which The Mummy – which stars Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella and is released on June 9, 2017 – is the first entry.

Variety reports that the studio is currently also developing The Invisible Man starring Johnny Depp, a reboot of Van Helsing and Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Meanwhile, the ‘Dark Universe’ now has an official logo (see above) and Danny Elfman has composed a musical theme that will accompany the release of The Mummy.
