Lyrics:

Before the story begins, is it such a sin,
For me to take what’s mine, until the end of time
We were more than friends, before the story ends,
And I will take what’s mine, create what God would never design

Our love had been so strong for far too long,
I was weak with fear that something would go wrong,
Before the possibilities came true,
I took all possibility from you

Almost laughed myself to tears,
(Ha hahahahaha)
Conjuring her deepest fears
(Come here you fucking bitch)

Must have stabbed her fifty fucking times,
I can’t believe it,
Ripped her heart out right before her eyes,
Eyes over easy, eat it, eat it, eat it

She was never this good in bed even when she was sleeping
Now she’s just so perfect I’ve never been quite so fucking deep in
It goes on and on and on,
I can keep you looking young and preserved forever,
With a fountain spray on your youth whenever

‘Cause I really always knew that my little crime
Would be cold that’s why I got a heater for your thighs
And I know, I know it’s not your time
But bye, bye
And a word to the wise when the fire dies
You think it’s over but it’s just begun
But baby don’t cry

You had my heart, at least for the most part
‘Cause everybody’s gotta die sometime,
We fell apart, let’s make a new start
‘Cause everybody’s gotta die sometime, yeah yeah
But baby don’t cry

Now possibilities I’d never considered,
Are occurring the likes of which I’d never heard,
Now an angry soul comes back from beyond the grave,
To repossess a body with which I’d misbehaved

Smiling right from ear to ear
Almost laughed herself to tears

Must have stabbed him fifty fucking times
I can’t believe it
Ripped his heart out right before his eyes
Eyes over easy, eat it, eat it, eat it

(Eat the shit out of it)
Now that it’s done I realize the error of my ways
I must venture back to apologize from somewhere far beyond the grave

I gotta make up for what I’ve done
‘Cause I was all up in a piece of heaven
While you burned in hell, no peace forever

‘Cause I really always knew that my little crime
Would be cold that’s why I got a heater for your thighs
And I know, I know it’s not your time
But bye, bye
And a word to the wise when the fire dies
You think it’s over but it’s just begun
But baby don’t cry

You had my heart, at least for the most part
‘Cause everybody’s gotta die sometime,
We fell apart, let’s make a new start
‘Cause everybody’s gotta die sometime, yeah yeah
But baby don’t cry

[Maniacal laughter]

I will suffer for so long
(What will you do, not long enough)
To make it up to you
(I pray to God that you do)
I’ll do whatever you want me to do
(Well then I’ll grant you one chance)
And if it’s not enough
(If it’s not enough, If it’s not enough)
If it’s not enough
(Not enough)
Try again
(Try again)
And again
(And again)
Over and over again

We’re coming back, coming back
We’ll live forever, live forever
Let’s have wedding, have a wedding
Let’s start the killing, start the killing
(You fucking bitch)

[Maniacal laughter]

“Do you take this man in death for the rest of your unnatural life?”
“Yes, I do”
“Do you take this woman in death for the rest of your unnatural life?”
“I do”
“I now pronounce you…”

‘Cause I really always knew that my little crime
Would be cold that’s why I got a heater for your thighs
And I know, I know it’s not your time
But bye, bye
And a word to the wise when the fire dies
You think it’s over but it’s just begun
But baby don’t cry

You had my heart, at least for the most part
‘Cause everybody’s gotta die sometime,
We fell apart, let’s make a new start, oh,
‘Cause everybody’s gotta die sometime, yeah yeah
But baby don’t cry

“Pretty fascinating stuff and a ton of fun for camp addicts, this should really be better known than it is.” The Bloody Pit of Horror

“Unfortunately, the whole production cries out for some serious editing and faster pacing to make the suspense more compelling. In fact, a pair of sharp scissors were needed during the long, annoying music-cacophony sequences.” Alt Film Guide

“For about the first hour, this contrast between the psychedelic generation and the older lonely booze hound works pretty well. Like The Night God Screamed, the older set’s fears about the hippie creeps are totally justified here! The gore effects are surprisingly good, considering it was filmed in 1969. Eventually, though, it starts to run out of steam, right about the point Vic starts holding Katherine hostage.” Rufus’s House of Horrors

Mummy's-Curse

Buried fury! Stalking to life from the depths of doom!’

The Mummy’s Curse is the 1944 American supernatural horror film directed by Leslie Goodwins from a screenplay by Leon Abrams and Dwight V. Babcock.

The film is the follow-up to The Mummy’s Ghost and marks Lon Chaney Jr.’s final appearance as Kharis, the Egyptian mummy. It also stars Peter Coe, Kay Harding, Martin Kosleck (House of Horrors; The Frozen Ghost; The Flesh Eaters), Virginia Christine and Kurt Katch.

mummys-curse-christine

The original title was The Mummy’s Return. Footage from two of Universal’s previous mummy films, The Mummy (1932) and The Mummy’s Hand (1940) is re-used.

Although the previous two films in the series take place in Massachusetts, with no explanation being given for the change, The Mummy’s Curse moves the action to Louisiana.

Plot:

The Southern Engineering Company is trying to drain the swamp of Cajun Country for the public good. However, the efforts are being hampered by the superstitions of the workers, who believe the area to be haunted by the mummy and his bride.

Two representatives of the Scripps Museum, Dr. James Halsey (Dennis Moore) and Dr. Ilzor Zandaab (Peter Coe), arrive on the scene and present their credentials to the head of the project, Pat Walsh (Addison Richards). They have come to search for the missing mummies, buried in the swamp years earlier. Their conversation is interrupted by the news that a workman has been murdered in the swamps. Evidence at the scene convinces Halsey that the murderer has found the mummy of Kharis.

Later that evening, Zandaab sneaks into the swamp and meets Ragheb (Martin Kosleck). Ragheb is a disciple of the Arkam sect, and Zandaab is secretly a High Priest. The follower killed the worker that unearthed Kharis, and has taken the immobile monster to a deserted monastery.

Zandaab explains the legend of Kharis and Ananka to Ragheb as he brews the tana leaves, giving instructions on their use. The old sacristan of the monastery (William Farnum) intrudes on their ritual, and is promptly executed by a risen Kharis…

“… A wretched little shocker… It is all very juvenile and silly and except for a few hollow laughs, is as dull as Uncle Henry’s old jack-knife. It’s time to tell that Mummy he’s a bore.” The New York Times

MCurse2

“While The Mummy’s Curse doesn’t break any new ground in regards to plot, it does offer a few pleasant surprises – a welcome change in locale, a strong performance by Virginia Christine, the most beautifully executed sequence in the entire series, plus lots of eagerly anticipated Mummy murders (in fact, more than any of the other series entries).” Universal Horrors: The Studio’s Classic Films, 1931 – 1946

the-mummy-s-curse_423210_33662

“Not only is the script a complete mess, not only are all the characters unidimensional stereotypes, not only is it clear from every second of his screen time that Lon Chaney Jr. was sick to death of playing Kharis, The Mummy’s Curse somehow manages to be dull even with a running time that just barely makes it to the one-hour mark! The amazing thing is that this is true even though the pacing is by no means slow.” Scott Ashlin, 1000 Misspent Hours and Counting

“The most striking moment of the movie is the resurrection of Princess Ananka as she emerges from the freshly drained swamp mud. Looking ever inch a living mummy, the mud covered Princess lurches eerily out of the sediment and into a fresh pool of water. Ananka, this time played by the beautiful Virginia Christine, is now washed clean of the mud of the swamp and is revealed to be very much alive.” Burg Castlestein

mummys-curse-ananka

“There is one really fantastic scene where Virgina Christine playing the ancient princess, would rise from the earth after being exposed, covered from head to toe in mud and would shamble towards the lake where she might wash off, almost as if she were about to break in two. It is a very eerie moment; one that elicits horror more than almost any other in the movie is one that you would not forget anytime soon.”

“ … an expert recreation of ’60s/’70s exploitation fare seen in grindhouses of the time. I sat mesmerised throughout because of the tone, look and askance view on the empowerment subject matter. “Along the way, the sheer beauty and level of attention to detail in The Love Witch is stunning, and Robinson’s performance shows an astonishing commitment to the physicality of the role, which requires great restraint and poise (utilising her background in dancing). The film’s easy listening score is by Bruno Nicolai. The original Italian title is La notte che Evelyn uscì dalla tomba.

Plot:

England: Alan (Anthony Steffen) is a wealthy aristocrat who has just been released from a mental institution following the death of his wife, redheaded Evelyn. Having caught Evelyn making out with an unknown man prior to his institutionalisation, the psychotic Alan begins luring redheaded strippers and prostitutes to his home to torture and kill them, as a means to deal with his grief and inability to get revenge on his deceased wife.

Alan attends a séance in which the medium contacts Evelyn, causing Alan to faint. Alan’s cousin (and only living heir) Farley offers to move into the mansion to take care of him. Farley takes him to a strip club and Alan takes home Susan (Erika Blanc), one of the strippers at the club who disappears after barely escaping with her life. Afterwards, Farley believes that Alan would be cured of his instability if he replaces Evelyn with a new bride that resembles her. On Farley’s advice, Alan moves to London to get away from his home and marries Gladys (Marina Malfatti), another redhead.

Gladys finds herself being haunted by strange goings on at her new home and being shunned by Evelyn’s brother and Alan’s invalid aunt, whom Alan has taken in as staff at his mansion. Gladys tells Alan her suspicions that Evelyn faked her death to escape Alan and run away with her lover. Alan’s mental state continues to unravel as Evelyn’s brother and Alan’s aunt are each killed by a mystery killer and when he sees a zombified Evelyn beckoning to him from her tomb, he breaks down completely…

Reviews:

Evelyn is a dark film churning with a rich, gothic atmosphere. Miraglia makes fantastic use of his castle setting, managing a number of moments that are undeniably creepy. It never goes as far as I would’ve liked in terms of scares, but there’s one show stopping sequence set inside of a crypt that seriously crawled under my skin and stayed there – something that scarcely happens to me these days. Miraglia’s sweeping camera, surreal imagery and textured lighting helps to cover up some pretty comical lapses in narrative sense.” Matt Serafini, Dread Central

the-night-evelyn-came-out-of-the-grave

“There’s lots to enjoy here, including Aunt Agatha and her wheelchair hiding in a wardrobe to spy on people. Plus the hilariously tone deaf pop-combo at the outdoor party. Then there’s Malfatti’s miraculously tiny wardrobe, which shows as much cleavage as humanely possibly without letting her nipples burst free. Bruno Nicolai’s score is typically lush and the film boasts some great cinematography – plus some seriously gorgeous 1970s furniture (now who wouldn’t want that grey faux fur spiral staircase in their home?).” J. Kerswell, Hysteria Lives

vlcsnap-2011-01-12-01h00m52s66

” … Evelyn switches narrative gears so many times that first-time viewers may get a nasty case of whiplash. From the lurid S&M sessions and stripteases in the basement to an out-of-nowhere corpse devouring by foxes, Evelyn pulls out all the stops to please its audience without tipping its hand about the characters’ true intentions until the climax. And what a climax it is; suddenly switching the film’s setting to a chilly, icy-white interior out of a Kubrick film, the last showdown is an unforgettably unhinged concoction with poisonings, stabbings, blood-smearing cleavage, and a handy bag of sulphuric acid creating a true Grand Guignol finish.” Mondo Digital

Night-Evelyn-1971

“It’s no easier to follow on the screen, believe me, but it’s all so demented that it becomes compelling in spite of itself. On the other hand, it should be borne in mind that my tolerance for goofball Italianate filmmaking has been raised to great heights by years of intensive exposure.” Scott Ashlin, 1000 Misspent Hours and Counting

” … ChromeSkull’s kills, proportioned out fairly evenly through the movie’s running time, are suitably bloody and vicious. Music is provided by the likes of Suicidal Tendencies and Deadbox, if that tells you anything about the tone of Laid to Rest. All in all, it’s an aggressive movie. The only drawback is that the movie contrives a lot of convenient coincidences to keep the plot rolling.” Justin Felix, DVD Talk

ChromeSkull-in-the-Laid-To-Rest-franchise-600x338

“If anything will get people talking about Laid to Rest, it’s the gore. The gags that director Robert Hall—an FX guy in his own right—and his talented team of effects gurus concoct are both unique and revolting … There’s a lot more, each successive murder more gruesome than the one that preceded it and they’re all executed brilliantly.” David Johnson, DVD Verdict

Laid to Rest does have some minor issues with pacing at first but really finds its stride about 30 minutes in and just keeps moving along until the very end. “Like the Witchcraft series, this consists of mainly softcore shenanigans, with just the occasional sorcery thrown-in, and was aimed firmly at the couples market. Production values are slightly better than is the norm for such 90s direct-to-video naughtiness, with at least the bonus of some seasoned exploitation movie actors (Blair, Parks, Marshall) in supporting roles. After undergoing a cosmetic facial surgery, a mother (Susanne Wuest) comes back home to her modern, isolated lakeside house and her ten-year-old twins, Elias and Lukas (Elias and Lukas Schwarz). Her head is swathed in bandages, with only her eyes and mouth visible.

The twins are unnerved with their mother’s appearance and are further taken aback when she begins to exhibit strange behaviour. She pointedly ignores Lukas and appears to only acknowledge Elias in conversation.

Though it is the middle of summer, the mother orders the twins to keep the blinds closed during the day, imposes a strict rule of silence inside the house, and allows them to only play outdoors. The mother also acts cruel and lashes out at Elias physically when he displays mischievous or disobedient acts; something that the boys comment that their mother would never do.

The twins begin to suspect that beneath her bandages, their mother may not be the same person…

Reviews:

” … everything in this carefully controlled creep-out, gazing into mirrors and peering through shutters and tightly wrapped gauze. When it’s over, even those who have guessed its final twist (because we have seen it before) will immediately want to watch again, if only to check the logic of its shifting points of view.” Jeanette Catsoulis, The New York Times

Goodnight Mommy plays on the nerves with expert cruelty—so much so, actually, that by the time the film belatedly comes clean about the plot secret everyone has already guessed, you’re too pummelled into submission to care. No, the twist isn’t shocking. But the movie around it sure as hell is.” A. A. Dowd, A.V. Club

“Franz and Fiala do a fine job of keeping the audience at arm’s length and – while telling clues are woven into the narrative – the complete picture only emerges once we’ve been subjected (and that is the right word) to an almost unwatchably grisly gear change. The violence is extreme when it comes, but by then it’s been earned.”Andy Psyllides, Sky Movies

a393a54df1802728358b99e85b3448f4445c7669

“It is, accordingly, as classy as the genre gets, preferring unease to jump-scares, and psychosis to spooks. Martin Gschlacht’s stark cinematography adds to an overall sense of dread, and the viewer is often reminded of the similarly chilly terrain explored by the youngsters in Michael Haneke’s Funny Games and Caché.” Tara Brady, Irish Times

“The deliberate pacing and moments of cruelty might give the impression of a cold-hearted film, but the significance of what the children are doing and how this situation has been able to manifest is as frightening as the glimpses of visceral bloodshed. This is a potent and disturbing nightmare, with flawless performances and a rich imagination behind its grim façade.” Jonathan Hatfull, SciFiNow

Reviews:

Honeymoon Horror is a poorly put together movie, but looks much better here than in the most common print available. Preston has said that the production was so awkward that most of his ideas were devoured by the lack of budget and the film does look shoddy and cheap. For a slice of regional filmmaking with a cool maniac though, it at least deserves to be seen.” A Slash Above

” … even with the slow pace I was never really bored. The horrid dialogue kept me laughing throughout; I particularly liked the guy who told his wife he had to go practice his weightlifting on their wedding night (which in any other movie would result in the now isolated man being clubbed to death with his own barbells, but not Honeymoon Horror!” Brian W. Honeymoon Horror is helplessly bogged down with talky scenes and nudity, not to mention absurd characters, particularly the Cockney maid (!). When it actually shows up, the gore is pretty plentiful and the special effects not too bad, but the cast are uniformly awful.” Jim Harper, Legacy of Blood

Way back in the 1960s, someone played a nasty trick on the student Sidney Scheider: He had to take a bath in a tub filled with cornflakes and coffee grounds, vinegar and even more disgusting substances. Nothing unusual so far but someone had replaced the water with pure acid. Sidney was seriously wounded and died a horrible death.

This year Acid Sid returns with a vengeance, killing everyone who comes his way. One by one, they are slaughtered…

Reviews:

It’s refreshing to see a supernatural killer here – particularly as it’s so unexpected, given the movie’s straight-up Porkys-by-numbers first half. And once the facially-disfigured Sid is on the loose, he racks up a fair few killings, some of which are quite well presented, with a fair gore level, although many (such an egg whisk down the throat) are off-screen.” Slasherama.com

Screen Shot 2016-04-09 at 00.20.15

“The first hour plays out like a piss poor riff of Animal House. Drunk groping of chicks, fugly stripper boobs, ass paddlings, ass cheek cherry races, and all that done-to-death crap. When the killing starts; it’s not frightening in the least with the first possessed laughing like a hyena as he kills.” Basement of Ghoulish Decadence

Pledge-Night-1988-female-victim-in-bath

“This time the killings are done by a supernatural psycho named Acid Sid. These and other oddities more than make up for the lazy, amateurish feel to the movie. But the ample amounts of the red stuff, and the obvious toilet humor (just loot at the VHS cover), gives this one the Beavis and Butthead seal of approval.” The Trashy Horror Charlie Show

Frankenstein, Jr. and The Impossibles (TV series, 1966)

Frankenstein, Jr. and the Impossibles is an American Saturday morning cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1966. It premiered September 10, 1966 on CBS, and ran for two seasons.

Overview

The program contained two segments, which each served as a middle ground between Hanna-Barbera’s traditional cartoon early output and its superhero-based late-1960s cartoons.

  • Frankenstein, Jr.: Taking place in Civic City, boy scientist Buzz Conroy (voiced by Dick Beals) and his father Professor Conroy (voiced by John Stephenson) fight supervillains with the aid of a powerful heroic robot named “Frankenstein Jr.” (voiced by Ted Cassidy). “Frankie”, as Buzz usually referred to him, was more than a little reminiscent of the title character in Gigantor. Buzz built “Frankie” and activated him through an energy ring.
  • The Impossibles: The title characters are a trio of superheroes (Multi Man, Fluid Man, and Coil Man) who pose undercover as a Beatlesesque rock music band. The characters’ names are descriptive of their powers: Multi-Man (voiced by Don Messick) can create identical copies of himself; Coil-Man (voiced by Hal Smith) can form into a super-springy coil; and Fluid-Man (voiced by Paul Frees) can transform his body into any fluid. The heroes receive assignments from “Big D” (also voiced by Frees), who contacts them via a receiver in the base of Coil-Man’s left-handed guitar. During the development of the show, this group was called “The Incredibles,” but was changed to “The Impossibles” by the time of production. The team’s pre-production name was later given to the superhero family from the Disney/Pixar movie of the same name.

The show was the target of complaints about violence in children’s television, and was canceled in 1968. The Frankenstein, Jr. segments were later recycled in the 1976 series Space Ghost and Frankenstein, Jr., which aired on NBC from November 27, 1976 until September 3, 1977, replacing the canceled Big John, Little John.

Adaptations

A single issue of a “Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles” comic was released by Gold Key Comics in 1966 as a tie-in to the TV series, and the contents were reprinted in “The Impossibles Annual” byAtlas Publishing & Distributing Co. Ltd, UK in 1968. The two “Frankenstein Jr.” comic stories were titled “The Image Invasion” and “Frankenstein Jr. Meets the Flea Man”. A new text-based story, specially written for the annual, was “A Spook in his Wheel”. The character reappeared in the comic Hanna-Barbera Presents #8 published by Archie Comics in 1996.

A Big Little Book titled Frankenstein, Jr.: The Menace of the Heartless Monster was published in 1968.

  • Nate Branch’s heroic identity was alternately known as “Fluid Man” or “Liquid Man”, with powers (and a flippered costume) similar to the Impossibles’ Fluid-Man.
  • “Twiggy” Sanders became “Spaghetti Man”, with coiling and stretching abilities similar to Coil-Man.
  • “Geese” Ausbie as “Multi Man” had virtually identical powers as his Impossibles counterpart and a similar costume.
