Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold is a 2018 American animated feature film directed by Jake Castorena from a screenplay by Paul Giacoppo.
In an old, condemned theater, Scooby-Doo and the gang are trying to catch the ghost of Perpetto the Puppeteer, who has been robbing precious jewels. While Fred has rigged a net trap to catch the Perpetto, Scooby and Shaggy burst in on him before he can finish setting it up. Just as they are being threatened, Batman arrives and drives him away.
When the Puppeteer attacks again, Fred overpowers Perpetto and his assistant. They are unmasked as Martian Manhunter and Detective Chimp. Batman and his associates soon reveal that the Puppeteer scam was actually an initiation test for Mystery Inc. to join the ranks of Mystery Analysts of Gotham. However, as they take their leave, a ghostly, red-cloaked figure watches them…
Reviews:
“Nothing but delightful from beginning to end. The animation and voice acting are beyond top-notch, the music is fantastic, and the story, humor, and action all deliver. It’s good to have The Brave and the Bold Batman back in any iteration, and teaming him up with Scooby-Doo was a surprising but successful pairing.” Jay Yaws, Batman News
“The voice acting is overall pretty good, especially the work of Frank Welker and Diedrich Bader. The animation is very nice too. The drawings are beautiful, colourful and quite detailed. At last, the film has enough jokes and gags –mostly Scooby-Doo style– to entertain.” Sonia Cerca, A Film a Day
“So many of DC’s animated films are based on existing comic book works, and almost invariably they struggle to replicate the visual style of the source material. But here, with the thick, stylized figures and bright colors of Batman: The Brave and the Bold bumping up against the moody environments and monsters of Scooby Doo!, you have a genuinely slick-looking animated movie.” Jesse Schedeen, IGN
” …a perfect collaboration of two beloved worlds that captures the style, trademarks and tone of each while blending them together into a wonderfully smart, hilarious and ridiculously fun animated movie that utilizes the best of both in order to deliver constant fun from start to finish for fans both young and old.” Kevin Lovell, Screen-Connections
