The Day of the Triffids is a new 3D film adaptation of John Wyndham’s classic 1951 science fiction horror novel which is currently in development for a 2015 or 2016 release. Scripted by Neil Cross and to be directed by Mike Newell (The Awakening, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), the film is a co-production for Angry Films, Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures and The Mark Gordon Company. It will be produced by Don Murphy, Michael Preger, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert (The Evil Dead) and Susan Montford.
Set in the aftermath of a comet shower that blinds most of the world’s population, those with sight must battle alien plants, known as Triffids, bent on destroying mankind…
