‘Family is family’
Inheritance is a 2017 American mystery horror feature film written and directed by Tyler Savage. The Portola Pictures production stars Chase Joliet, Sara Montez and Dale Dickey.
Ryan Bowman (Chase Joliet) has just inherited a $2.5 million beach house on the central California coast from his biological father, a man he’s never known and thought long dead.
Arriving in the charming town with his pregnant fiancée, Ryan’s curiosity about his father soon leads him into an introspective investigation. As a looming family presence tightens its grip on him, Ryan pushes away his adoptive family and expectant fiancé.
When he finally discovers the horrifying truth about his birth parents, he might be too late to stop himself from repeating a similar pattern…
Inheritance will be available to rent or own on iTunes and Amazon Instant Video on June 15, 2018.
Reviews:
“The finale of Inheritance is brutal and filled with dark suspense. This film deals with dark secrets hidden away and unearthed in a deft, mature, and confident hand by filmmaker Tyler Savage. Inheritance is a film for the patient and those who like drama with heavy doses of dread.” Ambush Bush, Ain’t It Cool News
“Shot on a beautiful estate overlooking the beach, (you can see why he’s reluctant to leave), this is also a low key film, set in the real world. There’s visions, but no phantoms or monsters which may be a turn off to some but for those who can appreciate this kind of film Inheritance will be very rewarding viewing.” Jim Morazzini, Beneath the Underground
“The thing that makes Inheritance so damned compelling is how well Savage grounds his story, utilizing both an eye-opening historical perspective as well as a gritty realism that makes Ryan’s horrific journey all the more relatable. Both Joliet and Montez have great chemistry together, making them a couple you really want to root for throughout all the dark twists that Inheritance has in store for its characters.” Heather Wixson, Daily Dead
“Nightmarish visions of the past play out when Ryan rises from bed at night, and they’re the most telling of a frightening tale – Savage uses the dark essences of an even more gloomy past to highlight this modern-day ghost story, and although I still found a few of my questions went unanswered, overall the film was a fun watch.” Matt Boiselle, Dread Central
“Thoughtful, troubling and mysterious all at the right time. There wasn’t any department working on Inheritance that wasn’t on point, actually. The locations were breath-taking, the editing by Shane Hazen was flawless. The special effects, when rarely used, were realistic. And let me not forget to mention the fantastic cast…” Horror Society
“While Inheritance is a standard story, there is an experimentation to it that helps set it apart enough to merit a look. It is much more a thinking thriller than a horror, with barely any real frights, so fans of the genre may feel cheated, but that should not deter those looking for something a little darker to think about.” David Duprey, That Moment In
“This is a patient horror film that relishes in twisting your stomach into knots, and when you’ve had enough, disemboweling you physically and emotionally, with a ghastly smile on its bloody face; I can’t recommend it enough.” Jeremiah Rosario, 13th Floor
