IT: Chapter 2 is a forthcoming 2019 American supernatural horror film directed by Andy Muschietti (Mama) from a screenplay Gary Dauberman (The Nun; Annabelle; Within; Wolves at the Door; et al), based on the novel by Stephen King. Seth Grahame-Smith and Barbara Muschietti are producing. Bill Skarsgård is returning as Pennywise the clown, with Jessica Chastain (tipped to play adult Beverly) and Jaeden Lieberher also in talks to star.
The New Line Cinema production is obviously a sequel to the smash hit horror movie IT (2017) which took a whopping $700,381,748 at the box office worldwide against a reported budget of $35 million.
Currently in pre-production, filming on IT: Chapter 2 is due to begin on June 18 in Toronto with a release date of September 6 planned.
Director Andy Muschietti has commented: “On the second movie, that dialogue between timelines will be more present. If we’re telling the story of adults, we are going to have flashbacks that take us back to the ‘80s and inform the story in the present day.”
