‘Did you ever wonder where nightmare come from?’

Channel Zero is an American horror anthology television series created by Nick Antosca. Storylines for the series are based on popular creepypastas. The series was initially scheduled for a pair of six episode, self-contained seasons, slated to be shown on Syfy in the Autumn of 2016 and the Autumn of 2017.  On February 9, 2017, Syfy renewed the series for a third and fourth season.

The first installment, based on Kris Straub’s Candle Cove, stars Paul Schneider and Fiona Shaw and was directed by Craig William Macneill. The series premiered on October 11, 2016. Channel Zero‘s second season will be based on Brian Russell’s The No-End House and will be directed by Steven Piet.

Candle Cove (2016)

A child psychologist (Paul Schneider) returns to his small town home to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his twin brother and a slew of other children in the 1980s, and how it is connected to a bizarre local children’s television show that aired at the same time…

Reviews:

“The series runs like clockwork in that nearly every five minutes, in the episodes we were presented, there is a legitimate unsettling scary moment to whet your whistle for terror. The series is sure to go down as a horror classic, so prepare yourself and enter Candle Cove. You won’t regret it.” Evan Valentine, Collider

“With its thoughtful, understated performances and visuals and its frank embrace of uncertainty, this show should be compulsively watchable. Instead, the repetitive plotting and clumsy scares punctuating Channel Zero: Candle Cove fill a stylish, spooky story with unwelcome static.” Emily L. Stephens, A.V. Club

“It’s a slow-burning but elegantly filmed watch where scenes and conversations and character personalities err on the side of understatement. This is perhaps intentional—the show, after all, features ridiculous-looking puppets, so the more dreamy pacing and visual style are a useful counterbalance. In a way, this approach suggests that Channel Zero takes children’s fear seriously, on its own terms…” Lenika Cruz, The Atlantic

Channel Zero might lack a distinct personality of its own to execute a hair-raising, short-form spook fest on the level of its concisely creepy source material, but it has an admirable, all-too-relatable emotional backbone centering on childhood fears, and a range of subtle and in-your-face frights, earning it at least a passing glance on your Halloween watchlist.” Mitchel Broussard, We Got This Covered

The No-End House (2017)

A young woman named Margot Sleator (Amy Forsyth) visits the No-End House, a bizarre house of horrors that consists of a series of increasingly disturbing rooms. When she returns home, Margot realizes everything has changed…
