Virtually Dead is a 2016 virtual reality, immersive theatre post-apocalypse themed event being held at secret East London location in Hackney, London, between 19th March and 3rd April 2016. Thirty-five actors are involved in the experience.
Virtually Dead is powered by Vive, a new virtual reality headset, which provide a 360-degree view, from HTC. Some 10,000 £30 tickets for Virtually Dead apparently sold out within hours. There is now a waiting list for new tickets.
Plot:
Participants gather at a secret east London location and are picked up by an officer in a blacked-out army van and taken to the Cultek Military and Training Facility, located somewhere in Hackney. They change into a boiler suit and are informed that a virus that began in Arizona has infected millions in the USA, so the United Nations is creating hubs to train up recruits should it spread.
The participants then enter an imaginary world that spans over half a kilometre of tunnels and abandoned work buildings to, in the words of the organisers, “prepare for an hour long experience that will leave you terrified, amazed and wondering if the world is really about to end.”
