Oculto is an American beer launched in 2015 by the world’s largest brewing giant, Anheuser Busch (AB-InBev). Described as “blue agave infused” and “aged in tequila barrel staves”, the 6% beer is sold in a bottle that features an engraved skull image.

Reviews:

“The aroma on Oculto is puzzling and downright mysterious. Between the overly sweet “tequila” aromas flooding your olfactory, your brain will be racked with the task of dissecting the competing aromas of stale tortilla chips with soggy cardboard and sadness. If that doesn’t entice you to fill your parched mouth with the liquid fecal matter of the Mexican beer gods, then I’m just not sure what will!” The Brew Review Crew

“The addition of the sweetness to what should be a light and crisp style beer doesn’t add anything to the mix. It feels forced. Oculto is, unfortunately, a gimmick beer. It has a great brand and it’s an interesting idea, but it never really delivers. You’re much better off getting a light style lager like Tecate, Corona, or even a Budweiser with a shot of tequila, rather than an agave-sweetened beer that’s touched tequila staves.” Geoff Kleinman, DrinkSpirits.com

“It is not a bad beer, nor is it a good beer. This beer falls somewhere in between. You can taste the agave and the tequila, but the base beer itself isn’t very flavorful on its own. Perhaps this is why the instructions include limes and bar salt…” Terry Bunch, Beer Alien
