Warner Bros. has announced that Scooby-Doo! and rest of the investigative gang are being rebooted as an animated feature set to hit movie screens in 2018. As part of the Warner Animation Group banner, the Scooby movie will lead a roster of animated big screen adventures featuring characters from the late 60s/early 70s stable of Hanna-Barbera.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, animation veteran Tony Cervone, who has already directed several of the Scooby straight-to-DVD movies, is helming the new movie from a screenplay by Matt Lieberman.
Producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle – responsible for Warner’s live-action Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004) – are joined by Cervone’s producer wife Allison Abbate whose credits include The Iron Giant, The Fantastic Mr. Fox and the Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie.
